“Dancing With the Stars” revealed its new cast

ABC reality show “Dancing With the Stars” revealed its new cast Tuesday, and fans of the Green Bay Packers should enjoy seeing the team’s all-time leading receiver, Donald Driver, in the mix.

Wearing Donald Driver Packers jersey, the wide receiver Donald Driver joins a list of current and former NFL athletes to compete on the show. Others have included Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Jason Taylor, Warren Sapp, Lawrence Taylor, Michael Irvin, Chad Ochocinco, Kurt Warner and Hines Ward.

Based on the success of those former players, Driver may wear Green Bay Packers jerseys and stand a chance at doing well. Ward and Smith won the competition, while Rice, Taylor and Sapp received runner-up honors.

Other cast members include tennis great Martina Navratilova, singers Gavin DeGraw, Gladys Knight and Katherine Jenkins, actor Jack Wagner, actress Melissa Gilbert, and TV stars William Levy, Sherri Shepherd, Roshon Fegan, Maria Menounos and Jaleel White (better known as Urkel).

Manningham unlikely to re-sign with Giants

It sounded that Giants general manager Jerry Reese has been prepared to let their wide receiver Mario Manningham walk, so Manningham’s chances of re-signing with the Super Bowl XL VI champion New York Giants appear to be diminishing. Wearing Mario Manningham Giants jersey, Manning could not be back as Reese was responding to Manningham saying he was “75 percent” sure Manning would not be back to wear New York Giants jerseys.

“It’s free agency,” Reese told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “March 13, that’s free-agent time, and guys are free to do what they want to do. He’s been a good player for us.”

Yes, it is a fact that Manningham reaised his free-agent stock with a strong postseason, highlighted by a 38-yeard reception that helped set up the Giants’ winning touchdown in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. It seems Reese has been determined that he won’t let him go.

Dallas needs to improve their defense

The executive vice president Stephen Jones wears Dallas Cowboys jerseys and admits that their defense must improve for the Cowboys to become a championship-caliber team when assessing the Dallas Cowboys this offseason.

“Obviously, we are not pleased with where we are defensively,” Jones told Sporting News correspondent Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We got to get better over there. I don’t know that we got good enough talent to win over there. We have to improve that.”

Dallas ranked 23rd against the pass last season, gave up too many big plays and missed the playoffs for the second straight season. Jones realizes the defense must improve for the Cowboys to become true contenders. The Cowboys are expected to be aggressive during free agency, and they hold the 14th pick in the draft, where they may pluck a top cornerback such as Alabama’s Dre Kirkpatrick. If the Cowboys are in a risk-taking mood, North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jackson will probably be available at No. 14.

Robert Griffin is competing with Andrew Luck

The No. 1 potential rookie quarterback Andrew Luck has played in a pro-style offense at Stanford, and then he has become the most shining rookies during the offseason. Therefore, it may simply be too much for the Colts to pass on. Robert Griffin III is now building an impressive case to be the No. 1 pick, while Luck started this race from the pole position. Of course, the No. 1 draft pick will wear Indianapolis Colts jerseys in the following season.

“I think Robert’s a great quarterback, a great competitor, a great guy, easy to get along with,” Luck said when asked if he was competing against Griffin and he took the high road. “But I don’t get my motivation by competing against him. Everybody wants to be No. 1, but not at the expense of another person.”
Now, both Luck and Griffin have elected not to throw during Sunday’s Combine quarterback workouts; instead, both will wait for their pro days in March. Let’s just wait and see how they perform in the future.

Fox: sometimes things get lost in translation

The Denver Broncos backup quarterback Brady Quinn recently wore Brady Quinn Broncos jersey and made a critical comment about team’s starting quarterback Tim Tebow, who wore Tim Tebow Broncos jersey and spent a wonderful season.

Coach John Fox said on Thursady: “Knowing  their relationship, knowing both Brady and Tim very well myself, sometimes things get lost in translation. I know their relationship is very close. They have a lot of respect for each other. They’re very good teammates with each other. That’s kind of what I know. It’s hard for me to stay up with all the comments.”

In Fox opinion, he doesn’t believe that Brady Quinn didn’t mean to say something bad about Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos.

“We’re excited about the fact he’s out working out and I think he’ll be better for that,” Fox said. “That’s just the kind of young man he is.”

Therefore, Fox just take it for some mistakes in translation but not blaming Brady Quinn for his critical comments.

Ben: Haley is good, bad and indifferent

Wearing Ben Roethlisberger Steelers jersey, starting quarterback Big Ben is now going to meet his new offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who wore Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys and replaced Bruce Arians after the Steelers let Arians’ contract expire. Now Big Ben is eager and anxious to meet his new coach, who could decide how wonderful his performance will be in the following season.
Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Haley still hasn’t called yet, which showed that he was kinda discouraged about it. Of course, Roethlisberger does care about his future.
Last week, Roethlisberger said he had been talking to people around the league about Haley, and the response had been “good, bad and indifferent.” Of course, it seems a mixed result, and the rest depends on how Roethlisberger sees his coach and also how Big Ben coordinates with Haley. Therefore, let’s wait and see what will happen.

President Obama expected to a congratulatory handshake with Coughlin

When the New York Giants won the Super Bowl XL VI, America President Obama called Giants coach Tom Coughlin with congratulations for doing it first when he is looking for a repeat of his own unlikely 2008 victory. Wearing New York Giants jerseys, the Giants players are celebrating their victory, so it’s strongly wished that Obama will also continue to be President Obama.

Via the phone, Obama hailed the G-Men’s “true grit and determination” in sweeping their last six games, including three NFC playoff wins and the Super Bowl.

At the same time, The Persident told Coughlin that he was looking forward to a congratulatory handshake and meeting the entire team when the Giants visit the White House, though there was no scheduled day yet for Big Blue drop-in. Here, hope that Obama can meet the New York Giants someday in the near future.

Everybody needs to step up if Rob isn’t 100 percent

“I’ve been flexible,” said the Patriots tight end Nate Solder, who wears Nate Solder Patriots jersey and is primarily a blocker when he serves as the third tight end as a rookie player in the Patriots. “I’ve been playing all sorts of different positions, and I just go in wherever they need me.”

Yes, it’s a final play for the New England Patriots, so all the Patriots players need to step up, particularly when Rob Gronkowski can’t wear Rob Gronkowski Patriots jersey and attend the play. After all, Gronkowski has not practiced this week after leading the NFL with 17 receiving touchdowns.

“Everybody needs to step up if Rob isn’t 100 percent, because he draws so much attention and is such a threat on the field,” Hernandez said. “I think he’ll play. I think he’ll be a big impact in this game.”

Yes, the Patriots had beaten down the Giants on the regular season, but the Giants have made much progress since then. Let’s just expect a wonderful game.
